On June 9, Sting visited the temporary capital of Kaunas, where he held a world tour concert at the Žalgiris arena. The artist, who started his 2024 tour in Dresden, Germany, performed the hits of the band "The Police" and the most famous works of his solo career in his performance in Lithuania. Not only the biggest hits were performed, but also works that had not been played in Sting's concerts for several decades. The concert evening was opened by the famous French-Italian singer, songwriter and music producer Giordana Angi.
Shortly after Giordana Angi, the internationally recognized Sting and his band took the stage. Stylishly dressed in white - from shoes to jeans and a shirt - the musician carried a black electric bass guitar in his hands. Sting opened the evening with a performance of "Voices Inside My Head", which he recorded with The Police for the band's third studio album, Zenyatta Mondatta (1980).
The audience was quickly brought to their feet by The Police's classic 1979 No. 1 hit "Message In A Bottle", which turned the stage golden yellow and the audience recognized Sting's solo hit, the ballad "Fields Of Gold", from the first chords.
Later, hit after hit were played: "Englishman In New York", "Shape Of My Heart", "Desert Rose", "Every Breath You Take" and "Roxanne". For the last encore of the evening that did not leave anyone indifferent, Sting took up the guitar and accompanied the concert audience into the night with one of the most beautiful solo songs - the ballad "Fragile".
Sting's world tour concert in Kaunas, which took place on June 9, was presented by the largest concert organizer in the Baltics "Live Nation Lietuva".
Composer, songwriter and singer, actor, writer and activist Sting was born in the small town of Wallsend in England. In 1977. he moved to London, where he formed the group "The Police" with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. One of the most popular pop-rock music groups in the world, they released five studio albums, won six "Grammy" awards, two "BRITs" awards and in 2003. was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
Having embarked on a solo career, Sting has become one of the best musicians and performers on the planet today. His solo work has been recognized with eleven Grammy Awards, two BRITs, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy. Sting has also been nominated for an Oscar four times and once for a Tony Award. The musician was awarded the prestigious Century Award by the music bible Billboard magazine, and in 2004 Sting was named "Person of the Year" at the MusiCares ceremony. In 2003, Queen Elizabeth II awarded Sting the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) award for his services to music.
Sting, who is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, was awarded the highest and most prestigious cultural award in the United States in 2014 - the Kennedy Center Honors. In 2017 Sting has been awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize. The artist has been awarded special honorary doctorates of music by the University of Northumbria (1992), Berklee College of Music (1994), University of Newcastle upon Tyne (2006) and Brown University (2018), who did so during the opening ceremonies of their 250th anniversary. Throughout his impressive musical career, Sting, as a solo artist and member of the band The Police, has sold more than 100 million records.
